Is the suggestion of a reverent bow before receiving Holy Communion a new idea or the reiteration of something previously suggested? What is its significance?

There is a range of approaches to intinction in New Zealand. How does the new GIRM seek to clarify the practice?

There seems to be a recommendation that there be no recessional hymn. Is this a new suggestion? How does the removal of a recessional hymn better give people the sense of being commissioned to “go forth” and serve the Lord?

The module indicates the return of some actions that were previously used, such as the striking of the breast during the Confiteor and the priest — rather than extraordinary ministers, as has become the practice in some parishes — being responsible for purifying the precious vessels after Mass. Does the new General Instruction of the Roman Missal restore these, or had they never fallen out of favour, just out of practice?

There doesn’t seem to be any indication of the congregation kneeling from the Sanctus to the Great Amen — as is the practice in many or most parishes — or specifically at the Consecration. Does the commission or the bishops’ conference have a recommendation for kneeling at that time — or standing in preference to kneeling?

In the series of instructions on gestures at Mass, it begins with a suggestion that the congregation “prepares itself in silent prayer”. Was the committee responding to specific concerns about excessive noise before Mass or simply reminding Catholics of the desire for the opportunity for silence?

I am preparing for WUSS Module 3 launch and subsequent study / reflection group meetings.  I wonder if you could please clarify the sources of the GIRM and OM references in the material?

My understanding is that the ICEL translation of GIRM approved in 2002 is the base document but that subsequently a number of national bishop's conferences have published their own GIRM (properly approved of course!), based on the 2002 document with additional local adaptations.  I have been able to find the Australian GIRM published May 2007 on the web, but so far nothing equivalent for New Zealand.  Can we assume that the Australian document can be used to further explain the references in the Module 3 table?  (or is there some other document we should use?).

I haven't been able to find equivalent document for the Order of the Mass on the web.  Where can I source the base document for your OM references?
